⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Heart healthy made easy
My husband was placed on the dash diet due to heart problems I got this book because it claims to have over 1000 recipes. That is accurate based on the rough count I did because each chapter starts numbering the recipes over. I liked that each recipe has serving number, difficulty level, and nutritional information. That is very helpful for our family of 7 as well as keeping count of my husband's sodium amount for the day. I also liked that in the table of contents the recipe is labeled GF for gluten free and DF for dairy free if that label applies. This is super helpful to families like ours with food sensitivities. we can see at a quick glance whether a recipe will work for us or not. This is a fairly simple cookbook as there are no pictures. But, I think it makes up for that in quality of recipes and information. -

I love that the author took the time to explain the benefits of the food groups and portion sizes. The book goes through the food pyramid and describes which foods are the most beneficial out of each food group.
It also describes which oils and fats are most beneficial to your body and why. It teaches how to increase potassium and lower sodium as well, including a list of different seasonings to help flavor food without salt. This book really sets you up for success. There was a great variety of recipes including a vegan section that I loved! The festive recipes were a fun addition as well.   -

I like the section on the healthy eating plate and the tips for building your meal. There are tips to help you get started on the dash diet. The dash diet can help you lose weight, lower your blood pressure, and reduce your risk of a variety of diseases. There are recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, and desserts. I am so happy that there is a vegetarian and a vegan section of recipes included. -
