When the Fort Wayne Komets played the San Diego Gulls in the 1993 International Hockey League Turner Cup Finals, no one gave them a chance. Though the Komets were 8-0 during the first two playoff rounds, the Gulls were the best team in minor-league hockey history with 62 regular-season wins and a squad filled with experience from thousands of National Hockey League games.
